The Leal Rios Collection, built up by brothers Manuel and Miguel Leal Rios since 2003, was partially deposited at Serralves in 2021.

This collection of works is highly significant for several reasons: because it represents a genuine concept and can therefore be identified as a collection; because it brings to Serralves a group of works by artists who were already part of the Collection, adding aspects that allow for a better understanding of their respective careers and thus helping the Foundation to achieve one of the main objectives of its collecting work; because it adds artists and works to the Serralves Collection that broaden and enrich perspectives on artistic production from periods when it is perhaps less fertile, namely the 2010s; because it far exceeds the domestic scale that is inevitably associated with Portuguese private collections.
