Zapping: Television as Contour and Counterculture exposes the language of social communication through the confrontation between the technological and cultural impact of television, especially in ephemeral and scheduled broadcasting, and its reflection and instrumentalisation as counterculture in artistic practices. The exhibition is structured around five themes that mark major turning points in the history of television's socio-technical interactions: FRONTIER, RESOLUTION, RECEPTION, COLOUR and MEMORY. Each theme brings together a range of cultural broadcasts from RTP, linked through their interaction with the themes, and a counterpoint of countercultural artistic work engaged with technology and the television experience.
